Kyuna is generally a climatically cool area with clean air in which some roads like that of Kyuna Crescent are literally covered with bougainvillea. Its immediate neighbours are the Kibagare Estate with its slum area, and the more up-market Loresho and Spring Valley. Kyuna itself is up-market with a few old fashioned houses with servants’ quarters, and new mansions being built in the area. Kyuna shares many of the same facilities - hospitals, schools, and social amenities - with Spring Valley and Loresho. For instance, the National Agricultural Laboratories located in Kyuna, serves the neighboring Loresho, where many own dairies. Kyuna is north of Westlands with the main access road being the Lower Kabete Road which leads straight onto Kyuna Road up to Kyuna Rise on the left, and then left into Kyuna Crescent. The Communications Commission of Kenya also sits between Kyuna and Loresho.

Location: Approximately 7KM North West of Nairobi's City Centre.

Population Density: Low

Types of buildings: Few apartments, mansions, double storey homes and villas with beautiful gardens shaded by trees dominate the area. However, a few older buildings can be spotted.

Property Values/Trends: There are few town houses, apartments and villas. Typically, houses are lavish four to five bedroom mansions with sprawling gardens and tall trees offering clean, unpolluted air. The price of each villa could cost up to Sh40 Million. Rent for a 5 bed room double storey building set on a mature garden with a panoramic view and including a large sitting room, fitted kitchen, a family room, a study, servants quarters and ample parking can cost up to Sh250,000 per month.

Area Zoning for Development: Kyuna is an upper middle class neighborhood, in proximity to Nairobi's City Centre, Westlands and Brookside. Its upper class and for real estate developers property built here will attract relatively high rent rates even over Kshs200,000 monthly.

Security: Most residential homes here are fenced and gated. A few security staff also check visitors. In times of crime, the closest police stations to Kyuna include Spring Valley Police Station, at Lower Kabete, Nairobi‎, Kabete Police Station‎ on the junction with Waiyaki Way, Muthangari Police Station on James Gichuru Road.

Transport & road networks: Kyuna sits between Waiyaki Way, Loresho Ridge, and Kyuna Road. Matatus can be boarded from Koja Mosque area in Nairobi’s Central Business District, or in Westlands, with fares roughly at Kshs50.

Hotels: Amply served by star rated hotels in the neighboring Westlands suburb.

Hospitals:The Aga Khan and M.P. Shah Hospitals are accessible from the area.

Educational Institutions: Kyuna Academy, Kyuna Kindergarten, Nairobi School, The International School of Kenya, Peponi School and Aga Khan High School are all near the area.

Shopping Centres & Amenities: Kyuna neighbours Spring Valley. It is an easy drive into Westlands, with the sarit Centre and Westgate Mall. Closer is ABC place with its arcade of shops and a pharmacy, and a club (Mercury Lounge).  Other local amenities include Dolphin Hotel African Safari Club at Shanzu and the Spring Valley Shopping Center. The Vetlab Golf Club in Loresho is also reasonably close.

Places Of Worship: Churches accessible from Kyuna include: All Africa Conference of Churches‎ on Waiyaki Way, and ‎the Little Daughters of St Joseph‎ located on Mwanzi Road. Yoga classes are offered at Planet House Kyuna on Mondays and Thursdays.
