Rhapta Road is a section of the greater Westlands area, north-west of the city. The road stretches from the Westlands shopping centre roundabout to Mahiga Mairu Avenue, cutting across quiet residential areas mixed with office blocks. Like most suburbs near the city centre, Rhapta Road is quickly becoming a commercial area.

Companies have relocated from the city centre, preferring the peaceful, hustle free suburbs of Westlands. Area residents rarely need to go to town as Westlands Centre has become a one-stop shopping area offering a variety of shops, malls, restaurants, entertainment joints and banking facilities. Businesses along Rhapta Road have been attracted by adequate and efficient facilities, while area residents enjoy the laid back, cool yet chic atmosphere. Rhapta Road has a number of high-end apartments and courts popular with upwardly mobile, professionals with young families, including Njema Apartments, Gables Apartments and Elite Court. The area also hosts several high commissions and embassies including; the Pakistan High Commission, Malawi High Commission and Eritrea Embassy.

Location: Approximately 4KM North West of Nairobi.

Population Density: Moderate

Types of Buildings: New office blocks are aggressively taking over the landscape of Rhapta Road. There are, however, residential sections that are holding out against the commercialization of the area, although, even in these areas some maisonettes and bungalows are being converted to office suites.

Property Values/Trends: A plot of development land will cost Sh20m – Sh30m. Rental for a one bedroom apartment runs at around Sh75,000 a month and a two-bedroom at Sh90,000.
Area Zoning for Development: This is largely an apartments' suburb area and high rise office blocks due to space.

Security: There is no police station within the Westlands area, but Parklands Police Station and the presence of embassies make Rhapta Road a safe neighborhood.

Transport & Road Networks: There is no public transport within Rhapta Road. Commuters alight at Westlands roundabout and cross the road to take the Rhapta Road. For drivers, Rhapta Road is relatively free of traffic except during pick hours where traffic can snarl because of the intersection at Westlands. Rhapta Road is a 10 minute drive from the city centre. A taxi from town will cost Kshs300 – Kshs500. There are several smaller roads that feed into Rhapta road, leading to private residences.
Hotels: Star rated hotels are in the neighboring Westlands suburb.

Hospitals: Small clinics but major hospitals can be found at Westlands, Parklands and Highridge.
Educational Institutions: St Mary's School, Australian Education Consultants.

Places of Worship: Christians can worship at Parklands Baptist Church, Living Faith International, Nairobi Lighthouse and the Consolata Shrine. Hindu’s have the Oshwal Religious Centre‎ and ‎East African Swaminarayan Satsang Temple‎.

Shopping Centres & Amenities: As part of the Westlands Community, Rhapta Road residents enjoy modern shopping facilities including; Sarit Centre, Westgate Shopping centre, ABC Place, Soin Arcade and The Mall. The area has a lively and vibrant night life with clubs such as Rezorous, Mercury, Pizza Garden, and Havana providing revelers with plenty of entertainment.
